As your friendly neighborhood Admin Team, the gang here at TVTropes HQ is always working to improve the site.
Many of those improvements begin with suggestions posted right here, on the Community Wishlist. Is there a feature you really want on TVTropes? Post it.
Is there something we could be doing better? We want to know. Do you think we look fat in these pants? We were totally afraid of that. See a bug? Report it.
Important things to know:
- We're all about that content-creation life! The top contenders for our attention are ideas that'll create more content, like the video uploading feature, or speed up launching new pages. On the flip side, design or layout tweaks won't be our top priority.
- Help us dig through the goldmine of old wishlist items! If you have an old request gathering dust or spot one you're totally on board with, give it a bump and a like. There's a treasure trove of 6+ years' worth of ideas just waiting to be rediscovered. Items without enough love may not make the cut and will be closed.
- Was your wishlist item locked up without an explanation? It was most likely disapproved or just too big of a task versus the benefit it would ultimately have. Time is precious, and we want to focus on updates with the biggest bang for the buck. Don't be discouraged though! We appreciate every idea and we're always listening.
The ability to delete comments would solve a few problems including duplicate posting.
Just trying to improve any page that needs it.It has occured to me that the Discussion button for works isn't even available on mobile.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI like the idea of a counter for discussions, or at least some indicator that there even is a discussion.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Yes, it sometimes takes years for someone talk to another one in discussion, simply because it is so hidden.
oh hey how are you doing? The easier it is to make and join discussions, the better.
Trust no one.Full agreement on all of this.

ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔|I DO COMMISSIONS|ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔Agreed on all fronts minus deleting comments. It might create issues for mods if a troper flames out and then deletes their comments, for example. (Unless mods can see deleted comments, which would solve that problem.)

It's hidden under the more/hamburger menu, where the to-do list/Edit Button/Related Pages is.
Edited by techno156^ It isn't there, and neither is the To-Do list. I've went over detail why is this the case in this thread.

I like that idea.
Especially when we consider this titbit in Edit War.
The article's Discussion page. If you use this, please leave an edit reason saying so, because most people won't think to look there first. Then it makes it clear we need this visible to make it a viable issue to tackling Edit War prevention. Edited by JustaUsername Some people say I'm lazy. It's hard to disagree.

Adding on, maybe change it to just link to an automatic forum thread? It would save the site having to make an entire separate discussion section, and should make it a little more visible.
Bumping because it's highly requested.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupMaking a list of possible changes i can do for this. Obviously I'll take it out of the "more" section, but what do you think the users would like as far as it standing out more? The counter is a great idea, but should we also make it a different color, change the size or put it in a separate place entirely? Just brainstorming thanks.
Now monitoring Wishlist and BugsHaven't thought that far. It probably requires more people tuning in to discuss the style. Naturally, the first priority is to make it stand out, including mobile, and to show that there's something going on.
Mock-up:
Fandom example:
Design is probably secondary.
If it's possible to follow a specific Discussion page similarly to Queries, then the number can be reduced up to "0 new", but it may not be the most optimal way, considering pages that aren't followed and memorizing every page for every user may be memory-heavy.
Of course, if someone is following a Discussion and there's a new post, they'll see that from their profile regardless.
Edited by Amonimus TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupThe following features have been added and are awaiting review:
- Discussion button pulled out of “more” drop-down on media pages
- Discussion button will bold for logged-in users who have yet to see the latest discussion or latest reply if there is one.
- Follow functionality for discussion pages has been separated from main page and has its own separate follow button.
This wishlist query has been fulfilled. Check the Changelog or the Wiki Talk Changelog Thread for a full list of recent updates.
Please remember to like and bump any new or old wishlist queries you think deserve attention so i know what the community needs me to work on moving forward.
Now monitoring Wishlist and Bugs
Since these are important for finding and resolving problems with the pages, aside from the forums, why are they barely visible? Perhaps they should...
- Have a counter with the amount of comments posted, like a certain other wiki does, or like how we do in the Reviews pages. Even if you don't follow the page, you'll know there's at least something new posted.
- Don't hide it under the "More" menu on work pages at all.
- Have own Follow button and separate the updates in the Following list from the main page edits.
- Let users delete own posts (may not be as good of an idea because users can't delete own query and forum posts either)
