The whole "Spartans never die" thing? That's just propaganda. We can never be listed K.I.A. on official record - only M.I.A. You can blame Parangosky for that one - she approved the directive forbidding us from being listed K.I.A. if we get killed as a way to maintain our seemingly-mythical status. In truth, we're just normal folks with augmentations to make us into supersoldiers. The effects on our lifespans in the long run have yet to be seen, though, so we may very well be somewhat longer-lived.

Saving money should be quite easy in the apocalypse since the collapse of mankind should mean there won't be anyone alive to take your money and therefore it will become worthless, just like you're sad little existence, trapped in a bunker waiting for food to run out before you'll slowly starve to death.
